Kenyan media has reported that the East African Legislative Council members voted to expel South Sudan and Burundi
The final decision will be taken by the East African Council of Ministers to implement the decision of the East African Legislative Council.
All member states are required to pay “8” million dollars annually to the East African Community “EAC” as annual contributions, but by June 10, Burundi, which joined the East African Community in 2007, had arrears of two years totaling “15” million dollars.
As for South Sudan, it has arrears of 27.8 million dollars, after it became the sixth member after joining
It is reported that member states have arrears, including Uganda in the amount of “1.6” million dollars, Rondan, Greece.
Kenya is the only country among the six members that have paid all their annual full contributions.
