South Sudanese Young Tycoon better known as Lawrence Lual Malong has offered to pay any musician who will compose a praise song for him. The rich fella wants any South Sudanese musician out there to write a song about him with a promise of paying them $10,000.
On a phone interview with Juba Eye, Young Tycoon wants a song for himself because he considers himself a very generous and hardworking man in the country who deserves some praises. He mentions that those of Salva Kiir and Makuei Lueth have been praised with songs and he shouldn’t be an exception.
He said, ‘I donate money, I help the poor and I am very generous, there is a need to acknowledge my good personality in a song’. He claims South Sudanese musicians need to praise right people doing right things like himself.
We ask him why he wants to pay any musician who will compose a song for him and he replied that it is a way of encouraging talent especially for a job well done. The Tycoon doesn’t mind the genre or style of music the artist will choose but he strictly wants it done in English or Dinka.
Despite the offer, Lual said he is not to cater for studio fees but a payment is guaranteed after the release of the song. He puts it that he works on first come first serve and the first musician to hit the studio and release a track about him will have the video shot the same month, a video he will sponsore before paying the artist.
