The Commissioner of Losolia County in South Sudan’s Kapeota State, Thomas Kotin has decried the deteriorating security situation in the area since this month began.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, Kotin said attacks by Turkana pastoralists from neighboring Kenya led to the death of a child, two people were injured and seven cows killed last week.
“The security situation in the area is deteriorating as attacks by armed groups from the Kenyan county of Turkana continue to affect the grazing areas of Nadapal area,” he added.
The official, however, urged the population to be patient as South Sudan engages Kenyan authorities on how to resolve the issue.
The Toposa communities of Losolia County in South Sudan and the Turkana in neighbouring Kenya have been involved in a protracted conflict caused by cattle raids and disputes over water sources.
