South Sudan enjoys its usual trend of being ranked the worst in everything in the world though model Adut Akech scooped for us the number one modeling spot in the world. Anyway, that’s not the reason we’re here!
The country’s mobile internet speed has been ranked the worst in the world, the latest data from the Ookla’s Speedtest Global Index has shown.
South Sudan’s mobile network operators, Zain and MTN recorded the slowest mobile internet speed compared to other operators from around the world on annual basis.
The report stated that South Sudan’s average mobile internet download speed peaks at 0.50 mbps (megabyte per second) which is far below the global average of 44.83 mbps
The Oakla index also indicated that South Sudan has the poorest voice call connectivity compared to any other country in the world
Norway had been identified as a country with the highest download speed by Ookla consistently for over a year before Qatar took the position with 62.61mbps.
However, Oakla index had urged the South Sudan communication authorities to question and condition Zain and MTN South Sudan. “They must improve their mobile internet speed by adopting to the global standard, failure to do so must lead to their contract termination in your country” Angry Oakla official wrote.
Now, it’s in the hands of our government to do something or leave us suffer with easy-to-handle matters. Quality matters!
