As Juba eye, we represent South Sudan as a nation and it is our duty to bring to your attention the daily happenings in our communities and at times we are prompted to share our opinions with the public irrespective of how it is received.
It is genuine to say one man`s opinion could be invalid to the other and vice versa and this does not mean a rift should evolve in the course.
As a team and a blog operating on South Sudanese daily activities both online and real life, we felt the urge to share our view on the rampant cultural activities some of our communities are involving themselves in.
After a series of keen look on what people have been consistent with from the beginning of 2018 to date, Dinka community appears to be immersed in a sea of cultural activities which are actually escalating.
It is true to say that he who does not have a culture is lost but in this contemporary world, it is uncivilized and mind boggling to hold cultural dance, wrestling and other activities known to villagers in cities especially in foreign countries.
Just yesterday, Dinka community held wrestling both in Australia and Nakuru, Kenya and it is observed that it involved travelling from city to city.
As we keep our eyes open all the time, we are convinced that this is one of the things they cherish the most in this particular era based on the massive number of attendees at both events.
Cultural dance is another thing the community is crazy about. It has even reached to an extend of taking it to night clubs here in Africa, Australia and USA.
It is not a lie to say that their secular musicians are opting to traditional kind of music because the community is supporting traditional music over modern one.
Many concerts that are being held in Kenya and Uganda in this festive season are traditional and this is intimidating musicians who haven`t been attached to cultural values thus forcing some to quit their original genres to something that can be danced to traditionally.
To wrap it up, it is not that we are discouraging them from holding whatever unites or make them happy but let us be considerate of our surroundings and most importantly activities that can lead to integration of kids in the environment they live in.
This is an opinion and we stand by it. We are not forcing or arresting anyone who will fail to concur but let it sink into your brain as a person living in this century.
Know your priorities and environment.
