President Salva Kiir and opposition leader Riek Machar are meeting in Uganda in a bid to resolve the key pending issues on governance and power sharing.
The meeting is attended by Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni and Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir. The ongoing talks at the State House in Entebbe are part of the ongoing regional efforts to end the conflict in South Sudan.
“The President is determined to bring an end to this conflict. He has gone there with an open heart, and from these talks, I am positive something will come out,” South Sudan’s presidential spokesman, Ateny Wek Ateny told Radio Tamazuj on Saturday.
On Friday, the South Sudan parties signed a deal on transitional security arrangements in Khartoum to pave the way for smooth implementation of the security sector during the transitional period.
